This is my very first blog post. I've been wanting to blog for months now, but I've been way too intimidated by the prospect, until today. That and I couldn't figure out how to make the blog site work. So, here I am, blogging.
I've recently decided to become a minimalist. I initially didn't know there was a name for what I wanted to become, but there is. During my deployment to the Middle East, I fell in love with the simplicity of life. My room was just a bed, desk and two lockers. Despite the "lack" of things, I was happier living there than I had been in significantly larger, more furnished apartments. So, when I returned, I decided to get to work. It's been about nine months and I'm still working towards my ideal, but I'm getting there, one bin to the Goodwill at a time.
In addition to pursuing minimalism, I'm getting out of the military soon! It's a huge life decision, but I'm hoping it's for the best. I've never had to make such a huge choice, but I know that everything will work out the way it's supposed to.
It's my hope that this blog will be a place for me to have others on my journey towards minimalism and becoming a civilian. As I become more blog-savvy, I am going to post links to my favorite blogs and other sites that have been helpful for me; I can already think of a quite a few!
